This piece was created by Middle School PAL student, Jade Hurley.
During Week 1 of Term 2, PAL Art students were expected to work with digital art tools online, whilst examining a range of street art samples inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic. Working from home, and using the program Sketchpad 5.1, Jade successfully produced his own COVID-themed street art piece. His work depicts anime character, Yugi Muto from the popular trading card game-themed TV series, ‘Yu-Gi-Oh!’, appropriated to promote good hygiene practice by wearing a mask and stating, “Stay safe my little duelists” in contextual reference to the title given to competitors in the series. In a short timeframe, Jade has demonstrated impeccable diligence, self-motivation, and rapid skill acquisition all while working from home. PAL staff have been thoroughly impressed by his ongoing engagement in learning within these unprecedented circumstances.
