Whilst our staff have a strong focus on academic rigor, student wellbeing and student leadership are foundational aspects of school curriculum. Helping our students become positive, capable and strong community minded citizens is shared goal.
Our school is a busy place and over the course of the school year, you will discover that many opportunities exist for you to become involved in numerous activities and events both within the school and the community. Our staff is highly supportive of student needs and we are dedicated to working with each student as an individual so as to maximise their enjoyment of school and the learning outcomes they achieve.
Every Year 8-12 student has been provided a teacher/leader mentor. Each teacher/leader mentor has up to 12 students in their mentor group and each mentor group is part of a School House structure. Every School Support Officer is also attached to one of the 8 School Houses. The purpose of the Mentor Groups is to provide every student and their family direct access to a mentor/support teacher. This teacher will stay with the student throughout their schooling at Playford International College and their aim to develop a close relationship with students and their parents. Each week, mentor teachers will monitor students’ attendance, uniform, behaviour, relationships with others, wellbeing and academic progress.
Regular whole school and Year Level assemblies are conducted throughout the year. These assemblies revolve around our school culture of involvement, recognition, success and achievement. In addition, a formal Presentation Ceremony is also held for our school community at the end of each school year and I would like to extend an invitation to you to attend each of these events.
A regular school newsletter is also produced that contains comprehensive news and information about the school and student learning. Parent input into whole school planning and decision-making is actively pursued and a School Board consisting of parents, staff and students along with community, business and government members supports the education of our students.
