27 January 2021
Welcome to the 2021 school year. In particular, welcome to families new to Playford International College.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new Principal of Playford International College (PIC). This is my 9th year as a school Principal. Prior to PIC, I was the Principal of Le Fevre High School and Ardrossan Area School. On a personal note, I am a mother of two adult daughters and recently became a grandmother. I enjoy gardening, reading, music and socialising with family and friends. I am also a huge Adelaide Crows supporter.
I am a passionate school leader with a strong belief that students learn best when the school and family work together to support the student to be successful at school and beyond the school gate.
I encourage all families to access both of the student managements system used at PIC, Compass and Canvas. These systems can be accessed by downloading the two Apps to your phone or via the school’s website. Compass is used to enable the school and families to communicate with each other for things such as attendance, behaviour, learning support and wellbeing information. General school information such as excursions, student free days, etc are communicated through this system. Student reports are also uploaded to Compass. Canvas is a system that enables families to see information about their student/s in relation to their learning program, assessment tasks, and achievement. Ongoing grade information is also available through Canvas.
Early in next week, families will be emailed a unique link to both systems. IT support is available to parents in relation to these two student managements systems via the following email address: email@example.com
Today our Year 8 students commenced their studies at PIC and our Year 12 students met at the Northern Sound System space for an introductory session on being a Year 12 student at PIC. Tomorrow our Year 9, 10 and 11 students return to school for the 2021 school year. I ask that all students ‘begin with the end in mind’. This mantra is about starting the year as you wish to finish it. Success at any year level requires attendance to lessons, punctuality to lessons and participating in the learning by active engagement, meeting deadlines and utilising the learning support as required. I hope that success is something all students achieve in 2021.
I look forward to getting to know the students, their families, the staff, and the broader community over the 2021 school year.
