Korean Study Tour report

In the October school holidays, the PIC Korean language group travelled to Korea on a language exchange trip.

Eleven students from other schools joined us on the long flight to Seoul. The korean study tour was an incredible experience from all aspects. When looking back on the tour, the first thing that stands out the most is the friendships gained. Firstly, as a class we became closer as friends and we became really close with the students from other schools that we hadn’t even met before. We were also able to find friends from the schools we went to in Korea and they were so nice. I learned a lot from them about Korean culture and the schools in Korea. From all the activities that we did, I learned a lot of things about Korean culture and it was a good opportunity for me to improve my Korean.

On this trip, we got the chance to visit historical and tourist sites in Seoul, Busan, Gimhae and Tongyeong learning about traditional Korean culture at Gyeongbokgung palace, riding very modern Korean metro, walking around Myeongdong, hiking.

One of the most unforgettable experiences on this trip was to stay with the homestay families. My homestay parents were awesome as they took me to Yangsan tower, skating, dog cafe and also to the beach. My Korean also improved, as they didn’t know how to speak English. They were very patient in terms of letting me speak so they could understand. They also cooked many delicious Korean traditional dishes and they gave me many gifts when I was leaving to come back to Australia. This trip was definitely unforgettable: not only was it a learning experience but it was also a fun and relaxing break. I encourage everyone to study Korean next year.
