Re: 2023 start of the year information
Playford International College will have a staggered start to the 2023 school year.
• Year 7 and 12 students will commence on Monday 30 January, enabling the school to support the 270 year 7 students and our 2023 year 12 students settle into the new school year.
• Year 8, 9, 10 and 11 students will commence on Tuesday 31 January. This will be the first day with all students on site.
The staggered start to the 2023 school year will support our new year 7 students to familiarise themselves with the school and spend some quality time with their care group teacher/s and peers. The day will have a strong focus on developing a sense of belonging. Our year 12 students will have the opportunity to prepare for their most demanding school year through some targeted information sessions.
Our year 8, 9, 10 and 11 students will commence on Tuesday 31 January with an extended care group session to assist them to settle into the 2023 school year.
Our start and finish times of the school day in 2023 will be the same as this year.
• The school day will commence at 8:50am with a morning care group and conclude at 3:15pm, except for Wednesdays, when the day will conclude at 2:25pm.
• Morning care group supports student readiness for learning each day and provides an opportunity for the development of a quality relationship with their care group teacher. An additional lesson each Monday is devoted to our care group program and it has a deliberate focus on the mandated child protection curriculum.
• The Wednesday early finish supports staff to engage in extended meeting times and professional development opportunities each week.
To assist you with your 2023 planning, our first student free day for 2023 will be Monday 13 February.
