13 December 2022

Dear parents and caregivers,

Re: End of term 4

The 2022 school year draws to a close on Friday 16 December. The final school day of the year will conclude at 2:15pm.

2022 has certainly been a challenging and busy year with some whole and partial school closures in terms 1 and 2 due to high rates of COVID-19 cases, requiring students to engage in online learning. I would like to extend my thanks to our students and their families/caregivers for their flexibility during these challenging times.

The school has held a number of events, performances and excursions, particularly in the second half of the year as COVID-19 restrictions eased. It has been wonderful to invite families to attend events in person.

Our first PIC Family Open Night in some years was held on the 3 August. It was a very successful event, and we are planning a similar event to be held early in 2023. On Monday 28 November, our Awards Ceremony was live streamed. If you missed this event, you can access the video via the following YouTube link:

It was wonderful to see the high achievement and growth of so many of our students. Congratulations to all award recipients. Thank you to the many staff involved in organising, running and supervising the many events, performances and excursions throughout 2022.

A reminder to our senior secondary students and their families/caregivers; SACE results will be released on Monday 19 December. Students should be able to access their results via the Students Online Portal from 8:30am. Members of the school’s leadership team will be on site from 9:00am if you have any questions regarding your child’s results.

Term 4 reports for year 7 to 11 students will be available to parents and caregivers via Compass on Friday 16 December.

How to access student reports on Compass:

• when in Compass as a parent, select View Academic Reports

• under the reports section, select 2022 semester 2 link.

To our year 7 to 11 students, your end of year report reflects both your achievement and effort for 2022. I encourage you to reflect on these and consider what goals you could set yourself in 2023 in relation to your learning.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff, students, families and community members for their contributions to Playford International College. I would particularly like to thank the Governing Council for their support throughout 2022.

Lastly, I wish everyone an enjoyable festive season and a safe summer break. School resumes on Monday 30 January 2023 for year 7 and year 12 students. Year 8, 9, 10 and 11 students will commence on Tuesday 31 January. This will be the first day with all students on site.

Yours sincerely,

Karen Bond

Principal
