Middle School Communications students at Playford International College, had a sensational time competing in the first annual Spell Battle competition, week 2 of term 4. The competitions included all Communications students in Years 8, 9 and 10. The audiences were simply spellbound, as the concentrated spellers created the magic on each of the days.
The first Spell Battle commenced with the Year 9s on Monday morning, audiences cheered as Christopher George earned the title of top speller. It was a close competition, with tension building until the final moments. On Tuesday, the Year 10s brought their best game to the Learning Hub court, the crowd anxiously watched as Koebbie Marius brought home the prize for 1st place. Finishing off Playford IC’s fantastic spell showdown on Thursday, were the Year 8s who held the final Spell Battle. Although she was up against some great spellers and many challenging words, Tyler Giacobino brought home the win as year 8 spell champion 2016.
Our enthusiastic Communications teachers were invigorated to see the vast number of participants in this first annual event for Playford IC. Teachers and students alike, shared in the excitement and look forward to many more Spell Battles to come!
