Master Builders

Born to Build has had another great year working alongside Brett Haggie from Playford International College. Together, we have collaborated to deliver a range of construction presentations, hands-on activities, and site tours for students across all year levels. These experiences have helped inspire students and provide them with the right information, exposure, and practical skills to set themselves up for a well-paid and rewarding career in the building and construction industry.

Through this partnership, Brett has connected numerous Year 11 and Year 12 school leavers with Born to Build, and we have been successful in supporting many of these students into apprenticeship opportunities. Each year, new opportunities continue to be created for students to transition from school into meaningful employment within the industry.

Our collaboration with Playford International College has enabled many students to secure valuable apprenticeships and traineeships with Maxima Group Training. We are committed to supporting students by placing them into apprenticeships and traineeships that provide hands-on experience, industry connections, and pathways to meaningful careers. Through our partnership with Playford International College we look forward to welcoming new candidates each year.”

Alexis Van Amstel

Playford International College helped me get a clear pathway into the construction industry; Playford International College’s courage in helping young students choose their future career is what helped me, now I’m a fully qualified tradesman in wall and ceiling lining. Playford International Colleges variety of VET courses was a massive leap when obtaining my qualification. Doing the CERT ll in construction through CITB allowed me to have a better understanding of what I wanted to do in the construction-based industry. This also helped me gain extra SACE points allowing me to finish year 12 and be a first-year apprentice at the same time!

I would like to thank the school for their continued support and assistance in helping me find a school-based apprenticeship. Achieving my dream job would not have been possible without the guidance, encouragement, and belief shown in me throughout the process

I am very grateful for the time, advice, and encouragement I received throughout the process. The assistance with career guidance, applications, and preparation made a significant difference and helped me feel confident in taking this next step in my future. This opportunity would not have been possible without the support of the school, and I truly appreciate the effort you put into helping students explore practical pathways and achieve their goals. This is to Mr Haggie. I really appreciated the help you gave me with getting opportunities to go to career expos, and other career related excursions. It made a huge difference in helping me figure out what I wanted to do after leaving school. I’m very excited to get started with what I have decided on doing. You helped me get the apprenticeship, by calling Comace, which is the company I do the apprenticeship with. You called them about me doing work experience with them, on top of that you guys took care of most of the paperwork which I really appreciate. Thank you once again for your continued support. I am proud to represent Playford International College as I move forward in my apprenticeship and future career.

The school supported me by connecting me with maxima Apprenticeships, which helped me secure an apprenticeship and successfully transition from school into the workforce. A big part of my success came from the individual schedule and pathway planning I worked through with Mr. Haggie, which helped me stay focused on my goals, manage my time, and prepare for life after school. I’m very thankful for the support and guidance he provided throughout my time at school. Through my apprenticeship, I have gained my Scaffolding Licence and EWPA Boom Lift Licence which have helped make me more confident and capable on site. Today I am proud to be a second-year apprentice, and I’m grateful to every single teacher’s at Playford International College who believed in me and supported my journey. I hope my experience inspires other students to work hard, stay committed, and chase their goals

Playford International College played an important role in helping me continue my education and work towards a qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care. The school provided a supportive and welcoming learning environment where teachers were patient, understanding, and always willing to assist when I needed extra help. Through a combination of classroom learning and practical work placement, I developed the skills, knowledge, and confidence required to work professionally with young children. The training helped me understand child development, workplace expectations, and my responsibilities as an early childhood educator. Because of the support and education I received at Playford International College, I successfully completed my qualification. I am now fully qualified and currently working in the early childhood sector. I am very thankful to Playford International College and the staff for supporting me throughout my studies and helping me achieve my goals.
