Art Experiment – Condiment Dragon

This project was in response to COVID-19 and the possibility that students might not have access to media at home (paint, pencils, sculptural materials, etc.). This meant that students would have to get creative with how they make Art. Students were provided with research of artists who use sand, recycled thongs, jelly beans, aluminium foil, found objects to name a few, in order to create art. Leela Torres decided to use condiments to experiment with creating dragons. Why I hear you ask? Our theme for this terms art project is “Heroes and Villains”, with dragons being painted as villainous characters. Leela is developing an alternate point of view arguing that it is all a matter of perspective and has made abstract connections to condiments- not everyone likes tomato or barbecue sauce, but again it’s all a matter of perspective.
