Playford International College is a designated Special Interest Music Centre. The Centre offers a wide range of high-quality music courses to cater for the diverse interests and needs of its student population. The Music Centre aims to foster the development of the musically talented while maintaining students’ connection to mainstream secondary education.
The multifaceted music curriculum on offer includes development of choral, stage band, jazz, orchestral, classical guitar, solo and small ensemble skills. The Music Centre functions in the spirit of dedication, cooperation, integrity and the pursuit of excellence under the four core values of the wider school community: Respect, Excellence, Integrity and Independence.
Music performance skills and instrumental expertise are developed through strong involvement by students in ensembles both within the program and through extra-curricular activities.
Public performance is a major focus of the course, and students have the opportunity to take part in high-profile events throughout the year, including annual national conferences at the Adelaide Convention Centre, the SA Festival of Music, the Playford IC Arts Showcase and Carols by Candlelight.
