Course and Curriculum
The Special Interest Music Centre offers unique opportunities for music study at secondary level, while students maintain their other studies through the support of specialist staff and resources.
Playford International College has five permanent skilled and dedicated music staff who were selected through a rigorous process. The Head of the Special Interest Music Centre, who is also a Deputy Principal, and the Music Coordinator oversee the music program. A number of instrumental teachers also service the school, offering an extensive range of tuition.
The music staff are highly capable generalist music teachers with strong skills across the board. Each also has specialist areas of talent and knowledge, covering genres from musicology, jazz, instrumental accompanying, choral direction and orchestral conducting to composition and music technology.
There are high expectations of the staff to encourage and support extra-curricular involvement from both the school and the wider community. Every week at least one ensemble from the Music Centre is invited to give a public performance.
