Congratulations again to the BackBeat Marching Band, Vocal Ensemble, EPIC Stage Band and Jamie Groom for their wonderful assisting artist performances at the Festival Theatre for the SA Primary Schools Festival of Music at the end of last term. Also congratulations to the Adelaide North Primary Music Hub ensembles who presented a hugely successful Foyer Concert at the Festival Theatre on Saturday September 17.
On Wednesday September 14, Mat Allen, Peter Moore, Emille Collins and Sharni Carter performed at the Adelaide University Global Village event which was organised by Playford IC SIM student, Hieu Tran. It was fantastic for our students to be invited to perform at this multicultural event, and we greatly appreciated the support and acknowledgements we received.
The EPIC Stage Band was invited to perform at the DECD Excellence in Public Education Awards held at the National Wine Centre on Friday October 14.. The band performed prior to the formal ceremony with an outdoor 30 minute set for invited guests, amongst whom were the Education Minister Susan Close and DECD Education Director Kerry Dollman.
Other performances included; guitarist Sharni Carter performed at the Year 12 Art and the Community presentation in the Learning Centre at the end of last term, the Sax Tentet and Peter Moore were assisting artists at the Gawler Starplex Northern Festival of Music; the Stage Band performed Ozzy Osbourne’s hit ‘Crazy Train’ at the whole school Year 12 Farewell Assembly, with Jamie Groom ending the assembly with ‘ Keep Your Head Up’ that had the whole audience joining in!
Congratulations to all these students on their absolutely fantastic efforts!
On Monday Oct 18 we were extremley fortunate to be visited by Japanmese Loop Pedal Ninja Kenta Hayashi, who dazzled our guitar students with his amazing guitar and vocal skills and use of pedal effects. A truly inspiring performance!
After completing their external Final Performance Marking at the end of Term 3, Term 4 began with Year 12 students working toward completing Music Individual Study and Music Technology units, and Musicianship, with the exam being held on Monday November 21. We wish them all the very best!
Congratulations and a huge thank you to all SIMC Music staff, instrumental teachers and students for their outstanding level of contribution and commitment to Special Interest Music programs and performances throughout the year.
