Local Businesses Come to Our Aid

At the end of last term the school held a Business Breakfast in conjunction with the Beacon Foundation. The purpose of the breakfast was to establish and build stronger relationships with our local businesses and in doing so, assist the school to provide the best educational experience possible for our students and to enable them to transition better from school into further education, work and life beyond school.
The Business Breakfast was hosted by our Beacon Student Ambassadors, who did an excellent job in the roles of Masters of Ceremony, greeting, socialising and serving food to our guests.
The event was a fantastic success with a wide range of Beacon Corporate Partners and local businesses and enterprises attending many of whom kindly pledged to support the school in the future by assisting in the following activities;
• Business Blackboards and Collaborative Classrooms
• Mentoring students (face to face and online through eBeacon)
• Speed Careering and Mock Interviews
• Work Readiness Programs
• Industry \ Business Visits
• Work experience \ Community placements
• School-Based Traineeships \ Apprenticeships and entry level jobs.
Following the Breakfast our Year 10 students were involved in a Speed Careering event which gave the students an opportunity to discuss possible career options with a wide range of business mentors. The Year 10 students were very attentive throughout this event and clearly enjoyed the opportunity to hear from their mentors.
We are very grateful for the help and support shown and pledged and as a result we look forward to an exciting 2016 for the students at our school.
