In week 6, our Aboriginal Education team held our first parent community meeting for the year. Carmel from Centrelink attended to explain how their services work for our students and families. Parents had the opportunity to share information with staff and another parent meeting has been planned for Term 2.

Ruby Wilson from the Workabout centre has continued to visit our school to assist our students with pathways and work training opportunities. Alison from Powerful Futures is also visiting each second Friday to assist students with resume writing and work training. Our SAASTA Senior students are on track for planning their Power Cup team advertisement. Several of our students are working on their Certificate III in Sport and Recreation.

A highlight this term has been our SAASTA Connect program. Students travelled to Alberton Oval in week 8 to take part in our first interschool activities day. Students undertook a variety of workshops including cultural activities such as boomerang and spear throwing and teamwork exercises such as and learnt some fundamentals of AFL. Students also took part in a tour of the Port Adelaide Clubrooms were they learnt about the players training and preparation routines. Connect students were also informed about the rewards camp in Errappa next term when ten of our best students will be rewarded for their hard work in our Connect Program.
